Frequently Asked Questions

What should I bring

The weather is mild in the summer with temperatures ranging from the upper 40s to the mid 70s. We recommend dressing in layers and encourage guests to bring raingear and comfortable waterproof footwear. 10 miles or 10 minutes can bring about a totally different weather pattern. Don’t forget your camera and sunscreen too! We provide guests with rods, reels and appropriate tackle for fishing at the lodge off our private river bank.

What amenities will I find at the lodge?

Our river front cabins are very new and offer many modern conveniences. Each cabin has a full, well equipped kitchen, satellite TV, and a modern bathroom(s). You have access to the outdoor kitchen, grills, coin-op laundry and wireless internet. Our riverbank walkways offer a comfortable place from which to bank fish using our gear and tackle. We have a fully equipped office on site for your corporate retreat.

Do I need a Fishing License?
If so what do they cost?

Persons 16 and over must have a fishing license. A 1 day license costs $20.00 and if you fish for King salmon you’ll also need a $10.00 king stamp. If you are under 16 you have to have a free harvest record card. We have licenses for sale here at Marlows on the Kenai or you can purchase them online at

What can I do when I’m not Fishing?

The Kenai Peninsula is known as Alaska’s Playground. Birding, photography, wildlife viewing, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, horseback riding, dog sledding on a glacier, shopping, berry picking…. You name it; we can set you up with it!

What is the shopping like?

Soldotna and Seward both have full grocery store options. 20 miles from the lodge in the town of Kenai you will find a Walmart. Anchorage has a Sam’s Club and Costco if you would like to shop on your way down. There are many gift shops and art galleries on both sides of the peninsula.

Are there Restaurants available?

Restaurants are plentiful on both sides of the Peninsula. In Seward you can walk to local restaurants and bars, and in Soldotna and Kenai there are even more dining options within a 30 minute drive. Don’t forget you have a full, well equipped kitchen in your cabin as well as the outdoor kitchen for your use. Nothing tastes better than a freshly grilled salmon you just caught yourself! If you prefer, we also offer a meal option (all breakfasts, lunches and dinners) for our lodge guests.

What kind of boat will I be on?

We use a 20’ Willie Predator riverboat with 4- stroke Yamaha outboard for most of our fishing here on the Kenai River. We also have a 20 foot Willie Drift boat. They both seat 4 fisherpersons and all boats have deluxe seats with back and arm rests. On the ocean you have your choice of smaller six passenger vessels, or larger 12-18 passenger long range fishing vessels. All tackle is top end with brands like Gloomis, Penn and Shimano.

What is your deposit policy?

We require a 50 percent deposit.  Deposits are non-refundable, unless filled by the vacating party.  Deposits may be used for the following year. The balance is due upon arrival.
